Is it a Myth or Truth
Dow Hill is situated in the
uphill part of Kurseong (Land of white Orchids) 30 kilometers away from
Darjeeling (Queen of Hills) a lovely hill station that belongs to the state of
West Bengal India. It is
a Forested area adorned by tall Pine trees deliberately forming avenues. These
woods are home to different animals like Monkeys, Cheetahs, Deer, Hedge
Hogs, and Squirrels, etc and also are a habitat for different species of birds.
As we can also describe it as a “Gateway to Heaven”. But all that is beautiful
has negative aspects to as going through this note; Dow hill is also considered
as a most haunted hill station for its paranormal activities where a lot of ghost
stories have been heard and described by the local people and the travelers who
have visited this place in the past. Now the question arises in our mind is
it really a haunted place in the Hills.
As many of them have described it as a home to death roads. But it is
guaranteed that one gets a creepy sensation while walking along its misty
avenues especially in the wintry mornings and evenings. It is also
believed that in the evening time the faint-hearted should avoid the forested
road. Many tourists and travelers are attracted to Dow hill because of the
ghost stories and paranormal activities which they have heard and read on the
internet. As many of them believe that the local people have heard loud whispering and crying sounds coming through these tall pine trees and it is also believed
that while walking through the area it feels like followed by someone. The locals also believed in saying a young headless boy strolling on the road and disappearing in the woods. It is also believed by the local taxi drivers
while passing through the Dow hill roads many of them have seen witch (chudail
in local
language) standing along the roadside at the night and because of the
incident, many of them have been mentally disturbed. As it is also believed that
because of the numerous unnatural deaths in backwoods in the yesteryears the
place is cursed with evil spirits all around the backwoods.
Nevertheless, it still stands a mystery to date.
